Robotaki Visual Dreams Remix

As predicted by some of the viewers, Robotaki just could not stay away from Girls' Generations Visual Dreams. Here is his clip if you have not seen it.

Rillean's Comments:
Admittedly I only recently started watching Robotaki's videos, but what I have seen has just been down right cool. Some are more complex than others, but they all seem to turn out great. For this particular video, the original MV just seemed to lend itself to Robotaki's style. The remix music fit well, and I liked the added pictures of the girls in the middle. If I had a complaint about this remix I guess it would be . . . well, . . . that it was not longer? And maybe it was just my computer but the colors almost seemed over saturated. But hey if that's all I can complain about this is a pretty good remix!

8bit and Cosplay

To start off with let me send out a big thanks to both Soshified.com and SNSDKorean.com for posting these videos. They really made my day. Now for those of you who have not seen/have no idea what I am talking about let me provide you with a link.

The Video:
First is the 8bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Hsycgojfyw

(Sorry for some reason blogger is freaking out every time I try to embed anything, so you just get links for now.)

Rillean's Comments:
This quirky little video probably took a lot of time to make. Granted the 8bit graphics and sound are not what we expect now a days with the graphics capabilities of our computers (I mean my phone has better graphics than 8bit). But honestly I am a bit of a nerd and the nostalgia of it does kind of grip me. The music is well, done the choreography is cool (okay for 8bit you have to give it the credit come on!) and the idea is . . . well I cannot think of a better word that unique! So to the creator of this little gem I say great work!

Ratting: 10/10

And now for the cosplay!

Rillean's Comments:
This one is also a bit . . . different. Usually I think of cosplay as dressing up as a fictional character but apparently this troop of cosplayers decided to take on Girls' Generation. After reading some other people's comments I am not the only one that was a little weirded out by the three guys in the video. That aside, the groups movements were sharp, crisp and the choreography was great. When I first watched this video I thought the movements were way to sharp. If I may make the comparison, I want a kitchen knife that will cut through the food I am preparing easily, but these guys handed me one that went through the counter too. I was turned off by this until I realised they were doing it on purpose. They were not trying to do an all serious cover (should have caught on to that when I saw guys in high heels), they were trying to have fun and make the audience laugh. So I watched it again with that in mind and really enjoyed it.

Movie Review: RED

Movie: RED
Produced by: Summit Entertainment and DC Comics
Rated: PG 13
Country of Origin: United States of America
Genre: Action, Comedy
Length: 111 Min
Staring:Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and Morgan Freeman

Description:
Frank (Bruce Willis) is retired, bored and lonely living off his government pension in a nondescript suburb in an equally nondescript house. The only joy in Frank's life are his calls to the government pension processing center when he gets to talk to his case worker Sarah (Mary-Louis Parker). Sarah is as bored and lonely as Frank and marks her conversations with the unknown Frank and her spy novels as the only things fun in her life. When something in Frank's past forces Frank back into his old line of work and puts an unwitting Sarah in the middle of the intrigue, Frank and Sarah begin a journey into Franks past and the people he used to work with. Like Frank they are all RED ... Retired Extremely Dangerous. (Source: imdb.com)

Rillean's Comments:
RED is a good movie for people of all ages and genders. It is an action movie, (plenty of guns and explosions for the guys) and a chick flick at the same time (some fairly sappy, cliche romance plots). How they pull it off I am not quite sure, but it works. It is also definitely a comedy. I mean when you are going to a gun fight who grabs a stuffed pig? These guys.
Now for the parts I am not so crazy about. It is a comedy so there are somethings I will give them props for instead of docking points, like I would for a standard action movie (a pig? really?). That being said there are somethings about this movie that I just have a hard time with. First and foremost is the plot. I feel like this one really drags. I knew (just looking at the cover it is easy to tell) that we were going to be following four action heroes. It took quite a while until we met the second member of the team and I just thought "okay cool, he will suggest looking the others up and we will be on with the plot." But this does not happen. Character development and introduction just took way, waaaaaaaay to long in this film. My next biggest complaint is with the explosions. Okay now I am a sucker for pyrotechnics, and the explosions were great in this film, except for one thing that kind of caught my eye. Why is it that all the people who stand near an explosion in this film had a gallon of gasoline with lunch? Seriously, they all seemed to just make their own little explosion, even if they were on the edge of another one (don't believe me watch the RPG scene). I will stop complaining for now on this movie, don't want to scare anyone away. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed this movie.

소녀시대 Visual Dreams MV

Info:
Song: Visual Dreams
Artist: 소녀시대 (Girl's Generation)

Rillean's Comments:
Intel, the largest semi-conductor manufacturer in the world has finally caved. They have never had celebrity endorsement as far as I can track down. It makes sense, however, since Intel does not directly sell to consumers most of the time. Instead it sells to other corporations, namely computer manufacturers, like Dell and Gateway. Corporations which do not care who endorses your product, just how well it works and how cheap they can get it. Now it would appear that Intel is taking a risk, by reaching past its market, straight to the consumers. Will it work? Time will only tell but I got to say I want a new computer now, something with an Intel core and . . .
Now on to the music video itself. It looks like there was one key word that was on everyone's mind when they were making this MV. That key word was: simple. Everything is fairly clean cut and simple. The music, the background, effects, choreography, even the wardrobe was fairly simple. Having something simple every once and a while can be really great, and I think this one was not only well timed but ended up really well done. My one complaint in regards to the simplicity is the constant repetition of the word Core. IT'S STUCK IN MY HEAD! And everyone at Intel just congratulated themselves because that is what is supposed to happen, so you do not forget their product. Congratulations Intel you won this battle.
Another battle Intel stands a fighting chance in is my favorite commercial list of all time. Frankly if I made such a list it would be short. Here in the US we do not get commercials like this (I really wish we did). Instead we are subjected to commercials like this:

Granted, that is a funny commercial once, but more than that and the humor just dies. Of course there are the new Old Spice commercials that are pretty good and if you have not seen those here is one to show you what I mean.

However these are rare gems in a sea of garbage. So Intel take a hint: advertise like you are in Asia here in the US. I am sure Girls Generations would not mind a trip to the States (hint hint). Anyway now for the ratings:

Tong Vfang Xien Qi (TVXQ): Keep Your Head Down MV

Info:
Song: Keep Your Head Down
Artist: Tong Vfang Xien Qi (TVXQ)

Rillean's Comments:
So I must admit up front that I have not been the most loyal follower of TVXQ so I was a little shocked when I saw only two guys here. I knew there should be more. A little web searching brought up the details to a law suit the other three are involved in and I just went back to watching the music video. Despite the loss of three of its members TVXQ seems to be doing well. The music video was actually really good. The effects are well done, the dancing is masculine and fitting for the song, and the harmonies are wonderful. There are two points though that I am going to harp on and I know I am not the only critic to have done this. The first is the eye poping suits that show up in the white room. Nice contrast, but that is about all the nice things I have to say about the wardrobe there. All of the other outfits speak of power and force, but this . . . almost screams of clown. The second point is the unbalance of power, specifically the boys' super powers. Yunho gets fire (and does some pretty cool stuff with it) while Max. . . well he gets to play with the chrismas lights. Now do not get me wrong the power of light can be great and all but it was deffinetly not played out well here. Other than that Keep Your Head Down is a great song with a strong beat and a well suited music video to go with it.

We Got Married Season 1

Show: MBC's We Got Married (Some times called Just Married)
Country of Origin: South Korea
Type of Show: Variety/Reality
Length: 60-100 min per episode, 55 episodes in Season 1 alone.
Spoiler Level: Low

Discription: We Got Married (우리 결혼했어요) is a popular reality South Korean variety show, one segment of the Sunday Sunday Night program. First broadcasted in 2008, the show pairs of Korean celebrities to show what life would be like if they were married. Each week, couples are assigned missions to complete, with candid interviews of the participants to reveal their thoughts and feelings. (Source Wikipedia).

Rillean's Comments: The We Got Married Series is a very long and entertaining series. For someone like me who knows little to nothing about the Korean culure it is fun to watch and see how the couples will interact with each other and compare that to how couples behave here in my country. There are of course good couples and bad couples, great couples and down right horrible couples, some lasting longer than you care to watch and some ending long before you want to see them go. But that is part of what makes the show interesting, you are never sure what is going to happen. It is, in my humble oppionon, a great show, and I am glad it is still on air. My one complaint, other than the length some couples remained on the show for, is not actually with the show at all but with MBC the broadcasting company that puts the show out. I was unable to watch the last few episodes of the first season becasue MBC was bringing copyright claims against the people who subbed and posted the episodes for us English speaking fans. This of course put a damper on my day but I will survive. So all in all, great show, bad broadcasting company.

Rename and Reinvent Rillean's Ratings and Reviews

Alright folks since it seems like most of what I am doing is rating things, I guess I will just declare it openly and see what happens. Now I am working on a few things right now (as you can see from the box on the right of the site here) but I want to do more, and I want to do stuff that interests you! I will try just about anything. I say just about for a couple of reasons here. If it is inappropriate I will not rate it ( so no X rated movies, sites etc. please), if it is too expensive or takes way too much time I am not going to rate it (sorry I am not flying to South Africa to rate a restaurant). But if you have an idea for something you would like to see me rate that does not fall into one of those categories, please drop me a note. I need your input or this site will die. I am enjoying doing it for now but if no one is reading it/enjoying it I might as well not do it. So please give me your thoughts, questions, concerns, whatever, just put them in the box below and I will respond as soon as I can.

Also I am still looking for a site logo and background. If anyone is interested let me know. Thanks!
